Warning Policy

After conversing with the team leads we have come to the conclusion that we are in need of a warning policy update.

At the beginning of the server warnings only lasted twenty four hours on record, but, as I conversed with the team leaders we decided that this isn’t enough time to be able to know if someone has improved their behaviour, so, we have decided to extend the time of a warning up to a month.

This allows the moderation team to be able to monitor people who have recently broken rules over a monthly period to make sure that they do not break any other rules.

After the month has finished your player record is wiped clean. This allows for people to have a new start, in order to not have past offences to play a part in their new punishment if they break the rules again after their previous warning has expired.

Punishments for rule breaking is down to moderation team, and despite previous convictions moderators are allowed to decide upon appropriate punishments for rule breaking, depending on how severe the rule breaking is.

Here is a list of steps taken by moderation team for the punishment process:

Verbal Warning: A verbal warning will be given at first rather than a written warning if the rule which was broken wasn’t deemed too severe by a moderation team member.

Written Warning: You will have a written warning sent in your DMs if you continue to break rules after being verbally warned by a moderator. (Unless you break a rule which is so severe it’s deemed to be given a written warning straight away).

Temp Ban: Temp bans can range from twenty four hours - two weeks. Depending on how bad a player's actions are deemed to be by the moderation team. Normally multiple written warnings will be given before the result of a temp ban if the rule which was broken wasn’t too severe. If a rule is broken which the moderation team deem so severe then a temp ban can be instantly given to a player in order for them to have time to cool off and rethink their actions.

Permanent Ban: After a temp ban, if someone continues to show bad behaviour it will then result in a permanent ban. Once again, if someone breaks the rules so severely, the moderation team may decide that the only right cause of punishment is a permanent ban (This will only be used in the instance that someone is a repeat offender, or, they do something so unethical that the only right cause of action is a permanent ban).

Warnings, temp bans and permanent bans can be appealed by making an appeal thread on the website where the team leads will read over the appeal and decide upon whether or not the appeal is deemed worthy. DM’ing team leads about appealing the punishment without going through the proper appealing process and will likely result in the appeal being revoked.

If you feel a moderator has issued an unfair report you may contact the moderation team lead in order for them to look over it. If the moderation team lead is the person who issued the report you will need to contact HR to have the report looked over.

Over time, if you feel like your behaviour has improved and you’re showing promising signs of improvements then you may appeal your warning, temp ban or ban when you have reflected on your behaviour and taken actions to change the way you have acted in the past. This will give you a greater chance of having your warning, temp ban or ban revoked if you express to the team leaders how you feel you have improved as a person since your punishment. Instantly trying to have your punishment revoked will likely result in failure as you will not have shown team leaders how you have improved.

You may only revoke punishments once every 2 weeks. Any attempt in trying to create more than one appeal in this time frame will result in it being instantly denied. Make sure to choose wisely when you want to appeal your punishment, for example, if you have rped on the server for weeks and you’re getting on well with other members of the community and being really active you can have people being able to vouch for your good behaviour and have physical proof that you have thought about your actions. All of these things will help you create a more persuasive appeal for the team leaders.

HR Policy

Warnings handed out by HR following this publication of this document will not be removed unless appealed regardless of the severity, the harsh nature of the decision is coming from the fact that as staff you are held in a higher regard, if it is a smaller offense then it will just be a verbal warning with no need for any written warning.

Here is a list of steps taken by HR for the punishment process:

Verbal Warning: A verbal warning will be given at first rather than a written warning if the rule which was broken wasn’t too severe.

Written Warning: You will be given a written warning, issued by a member of HR, sent to your DMs. If this warning is not acted upon by the recipient then further action will be taken as stated below.

Temporary halt of duties: If a member of staff is given a written warning and continues to cause trouble in a similar manner to the existing warning or they receive too many warnings in a short period of time then HR will force you to step down from your position for anytime between 24 hours and 2 weeks depending on severity. You can have you role back if you don’t cause trouble within the given time period and HR agrees that you’ve improved and proved that you are capable of carrying out your required duties.

Staff Removal: If a member of staff has been given a temporary halt of duties and continues to cause trouble or has done something very severe such as being racist towards another player or member of staff then their roles will be removed and you will no longer be treated as staff. You may reapply for the position after 2 weeks, the decision on your application will be handled by the appropriate department and not HR.

Warnings, Temporary halt of duties or Staff Removal can be appealed by making an appeal thread on the website where the team leads will read over the appeal and decide upon whether or not the appeal is deemed worthy. DM’ing team leads about appealing the punishment without going through the proper appealing process and will likely result in the appeal being revoked.

You may only revoke punishments once every 2 weeks. Any attempt in trying to create more than one appeal in this time frame will result in it being instantly denied. Make sure to choose wisely when you want to appeal your punishment, for example, if it is just a warning and you continue to carry about your job efficiently then it will put you in good favour as well as having other people vouch for your progress. If you happen to be removed from staff for any amount of time RP’ing on the server and being active within the community in a positive way will also contribute to having favour in your appeal decision.
